The Bruno Engler is the longest consecutively running ski race in Canada. The Race Format is a two-run GS held on the Cascade slope and finishing in front of the Day Lodge. There is also a traditional Swiss lunch and dinner complete with yodelers from Calgary.

This is an all ages, male and female snowboard comp. Riders are to raise money to enter with a minimum entry fee donation. There will be music, beer gardens, bbq, 50/50 draws and raffle give-a-ways. All money raised will go directly to the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Mt. Norquay Famed Mountain Smoker Event

What is the Mountain Smoker?
The Mountain Smoker is an endurance race where competitors ski Norquay’s Lone Pine run as many times as they can in three hours. The actual race will start on Saturday March 20th at 12:00 midday. Competitors will start according to the time that they record in the Preliminary qualifier.

When is the Mountain Smoker?
Saturday March 20th , 2010

When are the qualifying runs being held?
Qualifying runs are the morning of Saturday March 20th, 2010 between 9am and 11:30am. It is important for everyone interested in participating in the Mountain Smoker to try to come out for the qualifying runs. Each participant will be required to do two runs of Lone Pine. The timing of your two runs will determine what order you will go in. If you are unable to make it for the qualifiers, you will start at the back of the group.

When is the race being held?
Saturday March 20th 2010 from 12pm to 3pm

Where do I obtain a pledge form?
You can download the pledge form by clicking here, or at the Customer Service desk at Mt. Norquay.

When do I need to register by?
Registration will take place Saturday March 20th, 2010.

Is there a minimum donation?
No – any money raised is a help.

What is the Mountain Smoker raising money for?
The money raised will be going to help fund the purchase of new toys for the Banff Child Care Center. The Coveted Burnt Boot Trophy!
Not only will you be raising money for a great cause – you are competing for the coveted Burnt Boot Trophy! The record has not been broken in the last 29 years – set at 23 runs by Bob Rankin (pictured above).

The 3rd annual Banff Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival returns to the beautiful Rocky Mountains for a weekend celebration of food and wine! The Grand Tasting Hall will once again showcase an assortment of delectable food samples from Banff's most popular restaurants, as well as an impressive selection of wine, premium spirits, and import beer from around the globe. In addition to the Grand Tasting Hall, wine and food themed side events will also be held at Banff and Lake Louise hotels and restaurants throughout the weekend.

This year, the Banff Grand Tasting Hall will feature three tasting sessions over two days! Hundreds of Albertans will make their way to the Fairmont Banff Springs on May 7th & 8th. The Grand Tasting Hall will be comprised of two tasting areas – the President's Hall and the Van Horne Ballroom – which will showcase over 60 exhibitor booths offering a wide selection of local and international wines, port, sparkling wines, premium spirits, single malt and blended scotches, specialty liqueurs and import and micro-brewed beer. The Grand Tasting Hall offers a unique opportunity to explore new products, interact with the experts and even savor some of your tried and true favourites.

Local restaurants and hotels will be set to impress with delicious gourmet food samples such as Coronation Grape Braised Bison on Mini Brioche, Game Terrine, Indian Chili Prawns and Pistachio stuffed Chicken Roulade. The Subaru West Coast Triathlon Series is proud to announce its newest race in Banff that is scheduled for September 11, 2010. Imagine doing a triathlon in such a beautiful spot. This promises to be one of the most picturesque races in the world. Swim in the pristine waters of Two Jack Lake and bike around the picturesque Minnewanka Loop Road and then into the town of Banff finishing the run on Banff Avenue and Central Park.

This event is pending approval from Banff National Park.

2011 Volkl Ski Sneak Peek

Great day Wednesday. I had a chance to go up with my friends from Banff Mountain Wear to the Volkl Demo Day.

We had a solid 13 cm's of fresh at Nakiska (not known for it's epic powder days). I tried a few of the many new skis for 2011 including the Grizzly, Mantra, Katana, and brand new Kendo.

The Kendo is an interesting new addition to the Volkl line. Same construction as the Mantra but a narrower waist for a little more of an all mountain carving flavour.

Good to see Pete Hodgson, one of our Snowchasers stars. He was hanging out to help talk about the Freeride line with some of the dealers attending. After lunch he had to carry on to compete in the Fernie Big Mountain Competition.
